Activate the SIM, confirm SMS and mobile data service, disable the SIM PIN and keep the SIM phone number available.
Charge the tracker first, insert the SIM correctly, then power on the tracker using a standard 5V charger.
Send G123456# to the tracker SIM number to request the current location and map link.
Log in with the Device ID or user account. If the tracker is not online, verify carrier APN or subscription status.
These commands are commonly referenced in the current WINNES / TKSTAR manual flow for own-SIM devices. APN details depend on the carrier used with the SIM card.

|---|---|---|
| G123456# | Request location | Returns the current GPS / LBS position with a map link. |
| apn123456 [APN] | Set APN | Set the carrier APN name for mobile data access. |
| apnuser123456 [USER] | Set APN username | Only required by certain carriers. |

| Begin123456 | Initialize settings | Clear most settings while retaining APN on supported models. |
Use the right login method depending on whether you manage one tracker or multiple devices.
Use the Device ID printed on the tracker or packaging. Depending on the device version, the initial password may be the last four digits of the Device ID or 123456.
Use a user account if you manage multiple compatible GPS trackers. This is the recommended route for users monitoring several devices in the WINNES app or web platform.
Start with SIM status, APN / subscription status, power, network coverage and GPS visibility. These are the most common causes described in the published help content and manuals.
For own-SIM versions, verify SIM data, coverage, Device ID and APN settings. For subscription or built-in IoT SIM versions, confirm activation / subscription status before changing anything.
Check whether the position is a true GPS position or a less accurate LBS / cellular estimate. Move the tracker outdoors with a clear view of the sky before assuming a hardware issue.
Offline does not always mean defective. Some models enter a power-saving state while stationary. Movement, vibration, low battery, no data service, poor coverage or incorrect APN can all contribute.
Enable notification permissions for WINNES GPS. On Android, allow background activity and review battery optimization settings if alerts are delayed or blocked.
These are the most useful high-frequency questions highlighted on the current WINNES support page, reorganized into a cleaner layout.
A GPS tracker uses satellites to determine position, but it normally needs a mobile-data connection to send that location to the tracking platform. Depending on the version, the tracker may use your own SIM, an included subscription SIM or a built-in IoT SIM.
The Device ID is usually printed on the tracker or packaging. For a single tracker, use ID login. Depending on the version, the initial password may be the last four digits of the Device ID or 123456.
Charge the tracker, confirm the tracker / SIM version, activate the SIM or subscription, power on the device and test outdoors. Under good conditions, allow about 2–5 minutes for the first GPS fix.
Use an activated SIM that supports the mobile network required by your tracker and includes mobile data. Disable the SIM PIN. If you need SMS commands, the plan must also support ordinary SMS.
APN stands for Access Point Name. It tells an own-SIM tracker how to connect to the carrier’s mobile-data network. You mainly check it when an own-SIM tracker cannot come online.
Cellular registration does not always mean a working data session exists. An incorrect APN, SIM-plan restriction, weak coverage or a temporary network issue can still prevent communication with the tracking platform.
No. 2G and 4G trackers use different cellular hardware. A 2G-only tracker cannot be converted to 4G through an app setting, SMS command, reset or a normal firmware update.
Satellite signals can be weakened or blocked by buildings, concrete, tunnels, underground parking and large metal obstructions. Move the tracker outdoors before deciding that the GPS hardware has failed.
For own-SIM versions, verify SIM data service, Device ID, coverage and APN. For subscription or built-in IoT SIM versions, confirm activation or subscription status. If the issue continues, contact support with the Device ID and a screenshot.
Some trackers use movement-based power saving. They reduce activity while stationary, then wake, reconnect and resume uploads when motion or vibration is detected.
If you still need help, send your tracker model, Device ID and a short description of the issue to our support team.
Please prepare the tracker model, Device ID, screenshots if relevant, and whether you are using your own SIM or the included / subscription SIM.
